Experience Irelands Northwest with a stunning 6 day tour taking in the coastal counties of Donegal and Sligo. Itinerary

Day 1

Arrive at your accommodation in Gweedore, Co. Donegal at the foot of Errigal Mountain,  surrounded by rugged coastlines, glistening lakes & idyllic beaches. 

Day 2

Errigal Mountain hike | 750 meters- 2464 feet | journey time 2-3 hours | Moderate. Take a Twenty Five minute bus or car journey to the start of your journey in the heart of Gweedore in Donegal to the Iconic Errigal mountain. Experience beautiful streams and boglands as you make your way to the summit with fantastic views of Slieve Snacht in North Donegal to Sligos Ben Bulben to the South.

Day 3

Slieve League -  Pilgrims path (easier route)  3km at 2-3 hours 

One mans pass trail is a total of 2.8 km at 4-5 hours (One mans pass has a very narrow ridge so walk carefully!) moderate to hard

Experience one of the highest and most beautiful sea-cliffs in Europe with a height of 609m at its peak. The walk commences with breath taking views over Donegal bay. Both routes will bring you to the Slieve League peak with lovely views over the cliffs falling steeply into the Atlantic ocean. Return to your accommodation and experience quiet rural settings with great local food.

Day 4

Mullaghmore head loop | 4.5km walking circular route | 1 hour | easy route.  Depart your accommodation and take a one hour coastal drive to the the beautiful coastal town of Mullaghmore. View Classie bawn castle as you take in the stunning views of Slive League across the bay. Stay in Mullaghmore, noted for its quiet harbour and great food. This one night stop off is not to be missed.

Day 5

Glendarragh and Benbulben Circular loop |12.9km | 4hours | moderate climb. Depart your accommodation for a short drive to the Iconic Benbulben loop. This amazing trail provides epic views and leads to one of Irelands most stunning locations as you pass king mountain and the peak at Benbulben head at 526m. Depart in the afternoon for an overnight stay in Sligo town.

Day 6

Knocknarea and Queen Maeves Trail route | 4.5km | 1 hour 50 | moderate climb.  Depart your accommodation for a 15 minute drive to Knocknarea Co Sligo. Take in the spectacular 360 degree views of Donegal Sligo and leitrim. Check out the deserted Village from the 1800’s to Queen Maeves grave at the height of the summit at 327m. Continue on and descend  via a forest boardwalk taking in stunning views of the bay. Your hike will be complete with a stop at the beautiful coastal town of Strandhill for your overnight stay.

There are trains departing from Dublin to Sligo. Get connecting Sligo taxis to towns and villages close to Slieve League.

Due to limited accommodation options in some locations of some tours, we may need to book you into an accommodation which will require transfers to/from your hike start/end point.  We may also need to book you into the same accommodation for more than one night to cover multiple locations. The cost of this is covered in your basic tour price and will not affect your tour itinerary.
