5 Day Walking Tour

Experience the world famous Cliffs of Moher and an unforgettable boat trip and hike around the Aran Islands and the Burren. This tour will allow you to experience the full beauty of Irelands Wild Atlantic Way and the Burren region. Stay in guesthouses and hotels with stunning views over Co Clare, sample great local food and experience Irish culture with local trad music bars and our famous pint of Guinness.

Itinerary

Day 1 

Arrive at the charming heritage town of Ballyvaughan for the start of your Burren way trail. The name comes from the Irish word ‘Boireann’ meaning rocky place. Set on the South shores of Galway bay & the Northwest corner of the Burren, this is the perfect starting point for your 5 day walking tour.


Day 2

The Gleninagh Mountain and Doughbranneen hiking trail | 15.8km circular trail |4.5 hrs | moderate. Take a 20 minute bus or car journey to the start of your Burren trail. This Limestone region was formed 330 million years ago from sediments of the sea and and reshaped by glaciers. A quiet trail where you will experience at first hand the Burren Flora and geology with some fantastic views across the bay. Our driver will pick you up and bring you for your two night stay in the picturesque town of Doolin.


Day 3

Aran Island trail | Inis Mor lub an Chorruch | 10.6km route | 2.5hrs | elevation 178m |  moderate. Depart your accommodation and take a fantastic 35 minute boat trip to Inis Mor on the Aran Islands. Experience views of the world famous Cliffs  of Moher as you make your way over to the start of your 10km trail of Inis Mor. The largest of the Aran Islands with a truly unique landscape. This circular trail provides spectacular Ocean views with cliffs, stone forts and amazing beaches. Return by ferry for your second night in Doolin.



Day 4

Doolin to Liscannor Via Cliffs of Moher | 18km | 4.5 hours  | moderate. Depart your accommodation and make your way to the start of this iconic linear trail. Ascend over 200m above sea level on the Cliffs of Moher, continue through some of Irelands best scenery as you make your way down to Hags heads and Liscannor. A truly memorable hike with magnificent views across the Atlantic ocean. Witness a variety of species on and off the coast such as Seals, Dolphins, Whales, and other sea creatures. Stay in the lovely village  of Liscannor and enjoy beautiful restaurants  with lovely local produce.



Day 5

Kilkee Cliff walk route | Explore this 6.8-km (out-and-back trail near Kilkee County Clare). Generally considered an easy route  taking approximately 1.5hrs  to complete. This is a popular trail for running and walking, Enjoy some solitude in this beautifully remote landscape.


Please Note:
Due to limited accommodation options in some locations of some tours, we may need to book you into an accommodation which will require transfers to/from your hike start/end point. We may also need to book you into the same accommodation for more than one night to cover multiple locations. The cost of this is covered in your basic tour price and will not affect your tour itinerary.
